Ancient Surfaces is a specialist in reclaimed antique limestone fireplace mantels. We find limestone mantels that have already lived one life, conserve them with care, and offer them for sale to homes being built and restored today. A hearth is where a house gathers, and we think it deserves stone with something behind it.
The collection ranges from richly carved limestone fireplace mantels with foliate friezes, cartouches and scrolled console jambs, to monumental chimneypieces, to plain surrounds where the stone does all the talking. Each piece is cleaned and conserved with respect for the patina it arrived with. We are careful never to restore that away, and we describe every mantel only from what the stone itself shows.
